Wendy Tigerman’s Collage to the Rescue is more than just a visually captivating book; it's a celebration of the intersection between art and compassion, highlighting the transformative power of both. This innovative project combines the creative world of collage with the mission of animal rescue, bringing together a diverse range of artistic expressions to support a cause that makes a tangible difference in the lives of abandoned and abused animals.

At its core, Collage to the Rescue draws an evocative parallel between the art of collage and the work of rescue organizations. Collage artists take seemingly mundane or discarded materials—such as scraps of paper, old photographs, and other ephemera—and transform them into stunning visual masterpieces. Similarly, rescue organizations see potential and beauty in animals that others might overlook, giving them a second chance at a loving home. This book showcases a variety of collage techniques, from traditional cut-paper methods inspired by early pioneers like Henri Matisse and Hanna Hoch to modern styles such as Mixed Media, Assemblage, and Digital Collage. Each piece of art serves as a powerful metaphor for the hope and renewal that come with rescuing animals, turning what some might consider "discarded" into something truly beautiful.

The book features contributions from a remarkable roster of artists, each bringing their unique touch to the project. Deborah Kleven Morbetto, who designed the cover art, left her corporate career in 2002 to become a full-time artist. Her work spans various mediums, including collage, wax, and digital arts. Her cover design not only reflects her artistic skill but also her deep commitment to both art and animal rescue. Stacy Russo, who created the title page, is a writer, visual artist, librarian, and certified expressive arts facilitator. Her eclectic approach to life and art, including her daily chocolate indulgence and preference for black coffee, adds a distinctive and vibrant flavor to the book.

In addition to Deborah and Stacy, Collage to the Rescue includes artwork from a diverse group of talented artists, including Jan Marie Searle, Janet Black, Jen Waldie, Jesse Lawson, Kris Dexter, Laurie Miller Hornik, Leanne Peollinger, Linda Mills, Mary Bamborough, Melanie Rose Curry, and Nancy Goodman Lawrence, among others. Each artist contributes their own unique style and perspective, resulting in a rich tapestry of artistic expression that captures the spirit of rescue and renewal.

But Collage to the Rescue is not just about showcasing beautiful art—it's about making a real impact. Fifty percent of the book’s profits will be donated to non-profit rescue organizations such as the SPCA, Best Friends Animal Society, and Pet Orphans of Southern California. These organizations are dedicated to finding loving homes for animals and providing them with the care they need to thrive. By supporting these organizations, the book helps to ensure that more animals receive the help and compassion they deserve.

In addition to supporting rescue organizations, 25% of the profits will go to the contributing artists. This not only acknowledges their important role in the project but also supports their continued work in the art world. The remaining 25% will go to the book’s creator, furthering the mission of combining artistic expression with advocacy for animal welfare.

Collage to the Rescue invites readers to immerse themselves in a world where art and compassion come together in meaningful ways. The book serves as a visual celebration of the creative process and the spirit of rescue, offering a powerful reminder of the impact that kindness and creativity can have on the lives of animals in need. Each piece of artwork in the book is more than just a beautiful image; it’s a symbol of the potential for renewal and transformation.
